October 27, 2025 — Islamabad: Meta, in collaboration with the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT), hosted “Future in Focus: AI and Innovation”, bringing together government, academia and industry to advance Pakistan’s digital transformation. The event marked a major milestone with the launch of Urdu language support for Meta AI, allowing users to interact with the technology in both English and Urdu making AI more accessible and inclusive for millions across the country.
Federal Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja inaugurated the event, emphasizing inclusivity under the Prime Minister’s Digital Nation Vision. She said, “The introduction of ALIF, Urdu for Meta AI, is a milestone in making technology more accessible, ensuring no one is left behind in our digital transformation.”
Sarim Aziz, Director of Public Policy for South and Central Asia at Meta, stated, “Meta is deeply committed to supporting Pakistan’s vision for AI-driven growth and innovation. With Urdu support, we’re opening new opportunities for communities to engage with technology in their own language.”
Dr. Syed Mansoor Sarwar, Vice Chair of NCEAC, highlighted the importance of faculty training in AI, saying, “Enhancing the quality of computing education requires empowering educators to lead in AI and digital innovation.”
Fizza Amjad, CEO of atomcamp, spoke about the AI Literacy Programme developed with MoITT, Meta, HEC and NCEAC. She said, “By equipping non-technical faculty with AI knowledge, we’re strengthening the link between academia and industry and building a more AI-literate ecosystem.”

The event also featured the launch of the localized guide “Transforming Public Sector Innovation in Asia Pacific with Llama” a collaboration between Meta, Deloitte, and MoITT demonstrating how AI can enhance public services and governance.
